What To Expect

What To Expect

Practice by the Sea

Classes at Freshwater Yoga are designed to support strength, mobility, balance, and nervous system wellbeing. Practices are approached with care rather than intensity for intensity’s sake, encouraging students to move with awareness, steadiness, and respect for their individual needs.

Tuesday classes tend to be a little more dynamic and energising, gradually building warmth and challenge throughout the practice, while Friday classes offer a slightly lighter approach with additional pranayama and meditation woven into the morning.

Classes are held inside Freshwater Surf Lifesaving Club, just moments from the ocean in a calm and welcoming community space. The atmosphere is relaxed, supportive, and free from pressure or performance, with options offered throughout so students can practice at a level that feels appropriate for them.

After Tuesday and Friday morning classes, students often stay for coffee, chai, or tea. A simple and enjoyable opportunity to connect, unwind, and ease into the day together.

Frequently Asked Questions

New to Freshwater Yoga or simply looking for more information?

Here are a few helpful details to support you in arriving feeling relaxed, informed, and ready to enjoy your practice by the sea.

Not at all. Yoga is often misunderstood as being about flexibility or achieving advanced poses, largely due to the images commonly seen on social media. In reality, yoga is not about forcing the body into shapes or comparing yourself to others.

At Freshwater Yoga, the focus is not on performance or perfect poses, but on developing awareness, strength, mobility, steadiness, and connection through mindful practice. Yoga is an approach to meeting yourself in the present moment with compassion, curiosity, and care. Every body is different, and classes are designed to support students to move in a way that feels sustainable, respectful, and supportive for them.

Classes are suitable for beginners through to regular practitioners. Options are offered throughout the practice so you can move at a pace and intensity that feels right for your body.

First Class

If you're joining us for your first class please email Celeste at celeste@celesteferraris.com to book. If you'd like to chat, contact Celeste on 0407 770 177.

Ongoing Classes

There's no need to book, just come along!

Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and any props you enjoy using. Yoga blocks are provided for you.

The room has a beautiful natural wooden floor that brings warmth to the space, but you might like to bring an extra mat for added comfort during poses. A towel or light blanket can also be helpful for relaxation at the end of class.

The room is heated in the colder months, but it's a good idea to wear layers so you can adjust your temperature to suit you.

Arriving 5-10 minutes is recommended so you have time to settle in before class.

If you enjoy having a little more time to prepare your body for class with movement, self-practice or meditation, Celeste will be there at least 20 minutes before each class and you're welcome to join her.

Please let Celeste know before class if you're working with injuries or sensitivities so appropriate modifications can be offered where possible.

Yoga is not about forcing, pushing, or striving beyond your body’s limits, and students are always encouraged to practice with awareness and respect for how they are feeling on the day. Listen to your own body and choose the level of participation that feels safe and supportive to you.

If you're unsure if you should attend class due to a health concern, please contact Celeste by email celeste@celesteferraris.com or phone 0407 770 177 in the days prior to attending so we can discuss the best approach.
